A different kind of crafting

Months ago, before it became economically fashionable to do so, I decided I wanted a garden. All the things we eat right there in our backyard. It's something I've never done before and have always wanted to do, so we built two raised beds, planted some seeds, and viola!

Lettuce and spinach. The lettuce plant I actually bought at Lowe's, but the rest of it came from seeds. I'm very excited about the spinach because starting today I can cut it and use it!

Potatoes (tall) and cucumbers. Oh. And carrots. There are baby carrots there, peaking out from underneath those huge leaves on the left.

Zucchini, which are starting to over crowd the spinach. In our defense, we didn't know that the leaves grew that big and next year will plan accordingly.

Oh that is so funny because I live about 5 minutes from "downtown" Helotes...on the SA side of 1604!
