Pay It Forward -- the winter edition

Pay it Forward in 2011:

I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They must in turn post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their entries.

The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011.

IBOL

I put together my IBOL box earlier...really, I have enough to do about 10 more boxes but I think I'm going to stagger them out. Maybe do one or two more. This one goes out tomorrow.

I really, really truly love this project and I'm glad it's come together as well as it has. It really made me feel good putting this together and I can't wait to mail it off tomorrow.

I know I joked in an email to the project creator about how people love projects like this as an excuse to buy new stuff, but it's not like that for me. Sure, I have an entire shelf now empty and ready for new fabric. Sure, I'll indulge in some fabric buying. But that's not why I did it. I did it because...it feels good. It's nice to know that I'm passing along something I wasn't using to someone who will use it. Who will appreciate the sentiment and MAKE something with what I didn't. It feels good to know that what was once sitting on my shelf will soon be used, not wasted like it was in my closet. It's not a massive, world changing difference, but it makes a difference to me and whomever gets my bundle.

The deadline is September 7th if you'd like to send a box along. The details are here or you can contact me and I can give you the mailing address.

Custom orders and Pay it Forwards, oh my.

Costume jewelry found in the garage...and used for hair clips. The picture doesn't do it it justice, not really, but I love the pink pearls (left side). They actually ended up being great hair clips once I was done with them...

I love them as hair clips and I hope they make it safely to SF, where they'll be sold in a shop there. I had the worst time trying to find the right glue to make them work, but I think I finally got it when I went with some Liquid Nails meant to put fabric to metal.

I had the genius idea of packaging them on empty button cards...it just gives them more of a vintage feel, don't you think?

I got this in the mail yesterday...isn't it spectacular, despite my poor picture taking skills?

I got it as a Pay it Forward from Raspberry...and I was blown away when I opened it to look at it. It's so delicate and soft and just fantastic...I'm so excited to have it hanging on my wall!

Now to find someone to PIF...and a new tutorial to try!
